Why Your Organization Needs Grace and Space

Organizations often struggle to balance workplace culture with the broader societal events that influence how employees show up and relate to one another. Post-election periods can intensify these dynamics, underscoring the need for structured spaces where employees can voice their thoughts, share their experiences, and deepen their understanding of each other’s viewpoints.

As we navigate this complex landscape, it's essential to create spaces for open dialogue, empathy, and understanding. The post-election period is a crucial time for companies to demonstrate empathy and care for their employees and create space to process and realign with workplace priorities. By offering a Grace and Space Post-Election Facilitated Conversation session, you provide a valuable platform for dialogue, helping to:

  • Enhance Workplace Culture: Show a commitment to a supportive and inclusive environment, where employees feel seen and heard.

  • Reduce Tension and Conflict: Proactively address the discomfort or uncertainty employees may feel, helping to prevent workplace discord.

  • Build Resilience and Connection: Strengthen team cohesion by allowing employees to process together, fostering deeper understanding and mutual respect.

Session Highlights

A Grace and Space session is an environment that encourages imperfect, honest dialogue. Employees can explore their thoughts, challenge assumptions, and engage in meaningful inquiry. This session centers the conversation on shared human experiences, giving space for different voices to be heard without the fear of judgment or backlash.

Psychological safety is an imperative, making sure there is an environment where employees feel secure enough to share their experiences, ask questions, and take interpersonal risks. Within teams, this translates to increased trust, reduced friction, and a greater sense of belonging, even when discussing challenging topics.

In addition, all Grace and Space sessions are:

  • Facilitated by an Expert: Each session is led by Veronique Porter, an experienced and skilled facilitator specializing in unpacking and teaching difficult and controversial topics as well as navigating the challenges of building inclusive workplaces and leaders.

  • Flexible Format: Each session is unique based on your workplace setting. You pick the date and time best suited for participation of your employees to host this virtual event.

  • Open Space for Honest Dialogue: Veronique’s unique approach to facilitation ensures that everyone has the opportunity to share their voice and contribute to collective learning, without pressure or fear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a facilitated conversation?
A: A facilitated conversation is a guided dialogue led by an experienced facilitator who creates a structured environment for participants to openly discuss sensitive, complex, or challenging topics. As the facilitator, Veronique sets the stage for productive and respectful communication, helping to ensure that everyone feels comfortable to contribute and be heard. She establishes clear guidelines and a framework for the discussion and keeps the conversation focused, respectful, and productive. A key part of V’s role is to guide the conversation while managing conflict and de-escalating tension. The aim is not just to share opinions but to deepen collective understanding. Facilitated conversations encourage participants to challenge their assumptions, ask questions, and engage in meaningful dialogue that can lead to new insights and personal growth.

Q: What is Open Space?
A: At the heart of these sessions is the concept of Open Space. Open Space acknowledges that, in today’s environment, it’s challenging to create a space that feels entirely "safe" for everyone. Instead, V cultivates a space that encourages:

  • Intellectual Curiosity: thinking, learning together, and asking questions to learn more about the world and increase our understanding of humanity.

  • Positive Intent: seeking greater knowledge and understanding, even when discussing negative impact or outcomes.

  • Psychological Safety: Individuals feel secure enough to share their experiences, take risks, and contribute ideas without the pressure of groupthink or fear of exclusion; one can speak up without fear of punishment or humiliation.

Q: When are these sessions held?
A: Your organization picks the date and time for your organization’s exclusively held “Grace and Space: A Post-Election Facilitated Conversation.” There is availability to book and host one of these virtual sessions now through March 28, 2025.

A: Each Grace and Space session typically lasts 60 minutes, but can be customized to a duration of 90 minutes based on your needs.

Q: Can the sessions be tailored to specific teams or groups?
A: Absolutely. You will meet with Veronique before the session so she can understand your workplace culture, team dynamics and goals for the session.

Q: Will these conversations get political?
A: No. Grace and Space session sessions are designed with a non-partisan, non-blame approach. The focus is creating a space for reflection and dialogue rather than political debate.

Q: Is this session appropriate for all levels of employees?
